What the inner liner does
The outer bag carries the load and protects against routine handling. The liner is the barrier between the botanical and the warehouse or container environment. It should be clean, suitable for the material and closed so that dust and humid air do not move freely through the pack.
Powder deserves closer attention because it exposes far more surface area than whole leaf. Once a powder bag is opened, close it again between uses rather than leaving the liner folded loosely inside the outer sack.
Label every unit so the lot can be traced
A warehouse team should be able to identify the product and lot without opening the pack. Agree the label fields before packing. At minimum, the label and accompanying document should let the buyer match the material to the purchase order and batch report.
If the buyer divides a bag after receipt, the smaller containers need the same lot reference. Traceability is easily lost during repacking, which makes a later quality question much harder to isolate.
Check the shipment before it enters stock
Inspect the outside of the load first. Look for torn bags, wet patches, broken seals, damaged drums and labels that do not match the documents. Record damage before moving or opening the unit.
Then confirm the product, form, number of units, net weight, lot number and report. If your quality system requires sampling or quarantine, hold the lot there until release. Mixing it with approved stock removes the cleanest way to deal with a discrepancy.
Store senna as dried herbal material
The World Health Organization advises protecting processed herbal materials from moisture, light, heat and pest attack. In practice, that means a clean, dry store, closed packs, stock off the floor and enough separation to prevent mix-ups or cross-contamination. Keep senna away from walls or areas where condensation and leaks occur. Avoid direct sunlight. Use the lot and date information in your stock-rotation system, and keep rejected or quarantined material physically identified.
Handle opened packs deliberately
Opening changes the risk. Use clean, dedicated tools. Do not return spilled or exposed material to the bag. Close the liner promptly, mark the opening date if your procedure requires it, and keep the batch identity with any container used on the production floor.
If the material changes in odour, appearance or flow after storage, quarantine it and investigate. A general shelf-life statement does not overrule evidence that a particular pack was damaged or stored badly.
