Raw powder and 95% extract are different products
A turmeric order is really one of two very different purchases. Raw powder is a spice and a colour, bought on variety, curcuminoid content and cleanliness, and it goes to food and seasoning buyers by the tonne. Extract standardised to 95% curcuminoids is an active, bought on assay and on the documentation behind the assay, and it goes to supplement and pharmaceutical formulators by the drum. We are a bulk turmeric powder supplier and a turmeric extract supplier from the same desk, which matters when a brand starts in the spice aisle and moves into supplements, but the two are quoted, specified and packed differently.
Lakadong and Alleppey, and when the choice is worth paying for
Lakadong is the high-curcumin Meghalaya variety and is what buyers name when the curcuminoid figure is doing the selling. Alleppey is the Kerala variety, well established in the spice trade and typically the better value where colour and flavour matter more than assay. We supply both. If your specification simply says turmeric powder with a minimum curcuminoid percentage, let us pick, because we can hold the number you need at a lower cost than a named variety usually does.
What a supplement buyer asks for before the first order
Extract buyers are buying a number, so the number has to be defensible. Our extract runs at 95% or above curcuminoids by HPLC, with curcumin I at 70 to 80% of total, and both are stated per lot. Moisture is held at or below 10%. Organic is available across raw powder and extract. Certificates go out with the quote rather than after the order, because a compliance team that cannot verify a claim will stop the purchase regardless of price.
