For a dye house, higher indigotin means more dye per kilogram, which is the number to use when you compare quotes or calculate vat strength. A cheap kilogram with weak indigotin is not a saving.
Vat basics, from the raw-material side
Indigotin is not water-soluble, which is why indigo is a vat dye: the dyer reduces it to its soluble leuco form in an alkaline vat, dips the fiber, and lets the shade develop as it oxidises in the air, building depth over repeated dips.
